Progress in DEI has been slow. As the Black Lives Matter movement went viral in 2020 following the murder of George Floyd in the US, corporate leaders made new commitments and promises to redouble their efforts to address DEI. In the US, companies committed US$ 200 billion to address racial inequities.

Will these very visible responses result in meaningful and sustained change or are they simply reactive and performative in order to benefit the brand but with little substance behind them? It is time for organizations to deliver!

So, what do organizations need to do to unfreeze how they approach and operationalize DEI and dramatically change mindsets and behaviors? We need the public and private sectors to fundamentally reset their approach to DEI. We must be bold and ambitious! Radical change is possible, as we witnessed. And we have a burning social justice platform to raise the heat on it.

My monthly blog is currently focussing on the principles from my upcoming book Leading Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: A Guide for Systemic Change in Multinational OrganizationsBy signing up to my newsletter you can receive these insights straight into your inbox. I look forward to sharing our DEI journeys together.
